addle Creek offers the Montessori Primary Program for children 2½ to 6 years old and an Elementary program for children 6 to 12 years old, both include French, music, art and fitness programs.

ontessori materials and activities generally fall into five groups: Everyday Life Activities, Sensorial Materials, Cultural Activities, Language and Communication, Mathematics. Teaching materials appeal to all the senses -- cubes, spheres and cylinders, bells, cards and counters, golden beads, prisms, sandpaper letters, movable alphabets, puzzle maps.

he unique Montessori materials help your child to understand what is learned, by associating an abstract concept with a concrete sensorial experience. Hands and minds work together -- doing rather than merely observing. At Taddle Creek, we work toward the enhancement of each child’s awareness of and participation in the wholeness of life. Here, learning to tie one’s shoelaces is as important as learning the alphabet. The essence of independence is to be able to do something for one’s self.

ur Music Program in accord with the Orff and Kodaly approaches begins with the belief that each child is inherently musical. We encourage our students to develop their skills and understanding using expressive poetry, singing, dancing, and instrument playing. Our process works in harmony with the Montessori method as it begins with concrete musical experiences and gently guides children to comprehend and make use of abstract concepts encouraging composition and improvisation. Art is hands-on. Learning of the French language, through the gesture approach, plays an important part of the Montessori experience; at the Primary level, children learn vocabulary and conversational skills through singing and games. At Taddle Creek, we also realize the importance of activity and fitness. Children are offered lots of opportunities for movement through games, drama and outdoor fun.

he Montessori Elementary Program, for children 6 to 12 years old, provides a continuation of the Montessori experience begun in their primary years. Children are encouraged to reach their full potential in all subject areas, such as mathematics, language, history, geography, science, music and French. Children with a Montessori Primary background currently may remain at Taddle Creek to the age of 9, and in the immediate future to the age of 12, or until ready to enter Grade 7 in a public, separate or independent school.

arent involvement is a big part of the Montessori World.   At Taddle Creek we keep parents up to date with their children's progress through regularly scheduled parent-teacher interviews.  Our monthly newsletter provides current information about School activities.  We believe in open communication between parents and staff, and throughout the year parents and grandparents are invited to curriculum and demonstration evenings, conferences and Open Houses.  We provide parents with opportunities to participate in various social events and programs which lead to a much greater understanding and appreciation of the Montessori World that their children are experiencing.
